Part biography of the young artist, part guide to Barcelona, Picasso-Barcelona. A Cartography tells the story of the relationship between Picasso and the city that saw him evolve into a modern painter. Claustre Rafart takes the reader on a journey through the world of Picasso's early years, following in the artist's footsteps and revealing his favourite haunts through his own eyes. On the way, it stops to reflect on Picasso's many friends, the works of his youth and the places where he drew, painted and lived. In this portrait of turn-of-the-century Barcelona, Rafart conjures up evocative images of a city that no longer exists but served as inspiration during the formative years of the artist who went on to take the art world by storm.
